It’s that time of year again—Las Vegas is buzzing with anticipation as the massive technological extravaganza, CES, kicks off. With more than 4,000 exhibitors ready to showcase their groundbreaking innovations, this year’s show promises a spectacle of gadgets aimed to shape out lives for years to come. Whether you’re a die-hard tech enthusiast or just curious about the future, CES is the place to be.
Here are the biggest reveals, trends, and surprises we saw on Day One of CES 2025.
LG BRINGS A MOVEABLE SCREEN TO YOUR HOME:
The LG StanbyME 2 is a smart, portable, detachable 27-inch QHD touchscreen you can move anywhere. Why stay stuck watching TV on your couch when you can do it anywhere and in any way now? The Stanbyme works wall-mounted, on a tabletop, and even flipped vertically! Use your voice to control it from across the room. It’s perfect for bathrooms—watch shows while taking a bath or putting on makeup. Wheel it into the kitchen, home gym, garage, or wherever you wish you had a smart screen.
It’s super family-friendly too, featuring an AI sketch board game and a customizable “Information Board” to keep track of all your to-dos. With four hours of battery life, it’s versatile and ready to roll. No word yet on price or availability, though.
THE FLYING CAR OF YOUR CHILDHOOD DREAMS? KIND OF…
There are new vehicles in every shape and size here this year — including Pivotal’s newest Helix eVTOL — an electric vertical take-off and landing vehicle. Picture a personal helicopter crossed with a drone — and imagine learning to fly it in less than two weeks — no pilot’s license necessary. It flies about 500 feet above the traffic, at about 65-miles an hour. The flight’s pretty spectacular too — 270-degree flightdeck view, zero emissions, and near-silent sailing through the skies. Price starts at $190K Available for preorder now.
Starting Price: $190,000
($240,000 for the extended warranty, a trailer, and more. $260,000 gets the full-featured version of the aircraft with all the extras, a trailer, and the option to customize the exterior design fully.)
ENGAGING TECH FOR TOTS:
Another company getting a lot of buzz for families here, Toniebox, showed off some new ways to turn resolutions into routines. It’s a screen-free entertainment hub for kids ages three and up. Put one of thee little Tonie’s figurines on top to unlock stories, songs, and educational play. I used it with my just-turned 3-year-old niece to CRUSH potty training over the past week. It’s also helped with her brushing her teeth, fuss-free bedtime… and more. It’s that bit of tech you feel really good about handing off to kids — worry-free and super sweet.
Available now at us.tonies.com, Target and on Amazon.
Price: $17.99+ for individual Tonies (or $99.99 for a Tonies Box!).
AGETECH: KEEP AN EYE ON THE ELDERS IN YOUR LIFE:
AgeTech is another category booming this year at CES 2025 with a 45-trillion dollar global longevity market rising to meet the needs of the world’s aging population. This year, the Freedom Alert Max device caught our eye. It’s a discreet cross between a cell phone and a super advanced medical alert gadget. It has advanced fall detection with emergency video for caregivers — so even if they can’t talk, people can figure out if someone needs help. You can also set geographic boundaries and alerts for people
who might wander. It also has GPS location, 24/7 emergency monitoring, and connects to LogicMark’s companion app, Care Village, which allows caregivers to build a care team and coordinate care scheduling. So great for peace of mind for those of us caring for aging loved ones.
Price: The Freedom Alert Max is available for a one-time activation fee of $54.99, a monthly unlimited cellular plan of $19.99, and a 24/7 U.S.-based monitoring fee of $34.99.
